The C.O.L.W. began as a custom painting service in 1983, after our local custom painter retired I saw a need for such a service. The fact that many of our customers were unable to paint or just didn't have the time was the prime factor. Our goal is to offer to Modeler's a good looking product which they will be delighted in owning and running on their layouts.

Cooper & Oshtemo Locomotive Works offers custom painted H.O. Model railroad cars and engines in a completed and ready to run form. Each car is lettered, multi-numbered, with added brake wheel, painted, clear coated, making the car look as if it just rolled out a factory door.

Adding additional realism to cars with opening doors, we paint the interior floor to simulate a used wood floor. All visible car weights are painted as are the underside frame to offer a complete custom and real appearance.

Each car gets added Kadee* metal couplers and freight car metal wheel sets. These and is some cases other parts are added to give the Modeler something different from the from the mass produced models. Example: All trucks are screw mounted to the car body thus to allow ease in any wanted future adjustment. Some which are not accustom to accept the Kadee metal wheels have the axle mount bored out for ultimate rolling ability.
